Parent Questions

When should my child first see a dentist?

By age 1 or within 6 months of the first tooth erupting. Early visits establish a dental home, let us monitor development, and help children become comfortable with dental visits.

How do you handle anxious or uncooperative children?

We use a graduated approach: tell-show-do technique, positive reinforcement, distraction (ceiling TVs, music), nitrous oxide for moderate anxiety, and hospital-based general anesthesia for severe cases or extensive treatment needs.

Are X-rays safe for children?

Yes. We use ultra-low-dose digital radiography with lead aprons and thyroid collars. We only take X-rays when clinically necessary, following AAPD guidelines for each age group.

What if my child has special needs?

We are specifically trained to treat children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, and other conditions. We offer sensory-friendly appointments, social stories, and longer visit times.

Do you accept Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal?

Yes! We accept Medi-Cal, most PPO plans, and offer affordable cash pricing. Every child deserves quality dental care regardless of insurance status.

When do kids need braces?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends evaluation by age 7. We monitor development and refer to trusted orthodontists at the optimal time for your child.
